JOB SUMMARY / DESCRIPTION:

As our Talent Specialist you’ll provide a wide range of support for the team’s human resource functions, with an emphasis on recruiting. You’ll be supporting our team while building your expertise.  Your development will initially include learning our firm culture and a strong working knowledge of various talent functions and in the long-term, with successful performance, you’ll have the potential to specialize as a leader for us in an area that aligns with your strengths and interests. Our ideal candidate is an established professional with a positive attitude and a strong work ethic. They are willing and eager to learn, enjoy helping and serving others, and are well-organized while managing multiple priorities, and have keen attention for detail.

You will be responsible for:

  • Assisting with all functions within the Talent, Learning and Development team, including but not limited to recruiting, benefits, policies and procedures, performance management, employee relations, and training.

Recruiting

    • Working closely with team leadership throughout the recruitment process.
    • Preparing, posting, and managing job postings on external sites with consideration of evolving business and related talent needs.
    • Preparing and maintaining various recruiting reports, including weekly recruiting emails to talent and hiring managers.
    • Sourcing, searching, and screening candidates for open roles using LinkedIn, Indeed and Leopard Solutions, and building/maintaining an internal database of prospects in Excel.
    • Serving as the primary point of contact for reviewing resumes from position posting sources, including our website, LinkedIn, and Indeed.
    • Helping manage viWave, the firm’s Applicant Tracking System (ATS) and Spark Hire interview software.
    • Managing timely communications with all candidates to ensure an exceptional experience regardless of the outcome.
    • Calling candidates to coordinate screening interviews, one-way video interviews, and in-person interviews, including preparing interview schedules. Ensuring a seamless transition from start to finish.
    • Greeting candidates, providing a tour, and sharing an overview of their visit schedule.
    • Assisting with the Summer Associate program, as well as our various high school intern programs.
    • Assisting with on-campus and callback interview logistics.
    • Participating in recruiting events, including managing registration tables, and ensuring the catering and on-site matters are set appropriately.
    • Preparing offer letters and related documents as needed including administering background checks.

Performance Management

    • Providing assistance and support to team leadership throughout the performance management process, including goal setting and performance reviews.
    • Assisting with the creation and editing of review documentation forms and surveys in viWave to best capture employee feedback.
    • Assisting team leadership with performance issues and drafting Performance Improvement Plans as needed.

Employee Relations

    • Learning firm policies and practices surrounding employee relations and acting as a resource for the team and individuals seeking guidance or counsel.
    • Embodying the G&K culture of care and kindness when assisting team leadership with employee relations issues, performance concerns, or sensitive transitions.
    • Assisting with identifying and solving employee, team, or organizational related issues that arise or otherwise brought to our attention.

Operations and Benefits

    • Managing the employee and intern onboarding and integration experience, creating plans and leading employee orientation. 
    • Assisting with the administration of compensation and benefits programs, including Open Enrollment.
    • Working closely with the Talent Operations Specialist to prepare onboarding and exit paperwork, exit surveys, and related documentation.
    • Identifying opportunities within our onboarding and offboarding of employees and working closely with the team to enhance and implement improvements in their experiences accordingly.

Learning and Development

    • Assisting the Learning & Development team with CLE (Continuing Legal Education) tracking and other Learning & Development related projects as they arise.
    • Assisting with in-person CLE events, including tracking attendance, preparing handouts, and sending follow-up surveys.

REQUIREMENTS:  

  • Ideally 3 years of Talent or HR Generalist experience, preferably in a legal setting.
  • A bachelor’s degree in a relevant field of study.
  • Impeccable and sustained attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a high ability to build relationships.
  • Evidence of the practice of a high level of confidentiality.
